Session Reconciliation Workflow Validation
Summary
Today’s work focused on validating the engineering process behind Abbey Root rather than adding new features. Historical session updates were systematically reviewed against the current repository to determine whether completed work had been fully incorporated into planning documents, framework standards, implementation, and generated documentation.
The exercise uncovered several areas where the repository had evolved without corresponding updates to authoritative documentation. Correcting those inconsistencies proved that the session-update workflow can function as an engineering reconciliation process instead of simply preserving historical notes.
Accomplishments
- Established a practical reconciliation workflow for historical sessions.
- Corrected documentation and planning drift discovered during review.
- Updated the NEXT planning schema to match the current execution-focused planning model.
- Expanded the Plant Model documentation to reflect the implemented publishing workflow.
- Updated CLI metadata and regenerated the CLI reference to document plant publishing.
- Reconciled planning documents with the completed Plant Model implementation.
- Successfully validated multiple historical session updates and confirmed they were ready to be marked as reviewed.
Lessons Learned
The session reinforced the importance of treating documentation as a living engineering artifact. Historical session updates became effective validation checklists for ensuring that architectural decisions remained accurately represented as the repository evolved.
Perhaps the most important outcome was clarifying the meaning of a reviewed session. A session is reviewed when its completed work has been reconciled into the project’s authoritative documentation and its unfinished ideas remain correctly classified as future work.
Next Steps
Continue reviewing older session updates until the repository reaches a fully reconciled state, then use the validated workflow as the design foundation for a future abbey review command capable of automating much of the reconciliation process.
