Abbey Framework Foundation
Summary
Today’s session marked an important shift for Abbey Root.
The project moved from being a single home lab and development repository toward becoming the reference implementation of a reusable engineering framework.
The work focused on aligning Abbey Root and Power Infrastructure around a shared project model: consistent CLI behavior, shared framework standards, predictable documentation layout, and onboarding guides for new contributors.
What Changed
Abbey Root now has metadata-driven CLI help and generated CLI reference documentation. The abbey version command was added as a universal framework command, and Power Infrastructure gained a matching pwr session command.
The session also introduced the docs/framework section as the home for framework-level standards, including the CLI Standard and Project Standard.
Power Infrastructure adopted the same framework documents, making it the first production implementation of the Abbey Framework.
Why It Matters
This work turns scattered good practices into a reusable model.
Future repositories should be able to start with the same structure, workflow, documentation habits, and CLI conventions from day one.
That supports the longer-term goal of eventually creating an abbey init workflow for bootstrapping new projects.
Reflection
The most important realization from this session was that Abbey Root is no longer just a project.
It is becoming the place where reusable engineering practices are designed, tested, documented, and then adopted by other repositories.
The next phase is to continue turning those practices into something that can be deployed intentionally rather than recreated manually.
